Lelystad is easily and quickly accessible by car and public transport. By car, you can drive straight onto the A6 or A27. And by public transport? Travel directly by train to Groningen and Zwolle. To Amsterdam or The Hague? Within an hour's train ride to one of these cities. So a client visit is no time at all. International visitors travel via Schiphol Airport. Within the city, there are several bus lines to tourist attractions. There is also plenty of investment in infrastructure and recreational facilities. All roads are open to visitors and entrepreneurs.

Lelystad Airport

Since 2008, Schiphol and the central government have had the ambition to open Lelystad Airport to commercial air traffic, especially holiday flights. The airport is now largely ready for use, but has not been opened for commercial passenger flights to date.

The current cabinet's coalition agreement stipulates that Lelystad Airport will be developed as a combined civilian and military airport, with space for around 10,000 holiday flights per year and the stationing of F-35 fighter jets. The government is currently working on the necessary legal and operational preparations, with the aim of opening the airport for holiday flights in 2027.

However, the actual opening is still subject to important conditions, including obtaining a nature permit and amending the airport decision. Due to nitrogen issues and legal procedures, among others, final opening is currently uncertain.
