Walking network Lelystad officially opened

On Tuesday 28 April, the walking network in Lelystad was officially opened that we as a municipality have worked hard on.

In the presence of several invited guests, Lelystad city councillor Jan Nico Appelman and Flevoland province deputy Harold Hofstra performed the opening by unveiling the network's overview board in the Zuigerplasbos.

Easier to follow and combine walking routes

With this official commissioning, it has become easier for residents and visitors to follow and combine walking routes through Lelystad and its green surroundings. The walking network connects recreational areas, nature and landscape in an orderly manner and is in line with Lelystad's positioning as 'Capital of New Nature'. The network contributes to a pleasant and healthy living environment for residents and stimulates daytime recreation, in line with the principle of tourism in balance.

Accessibility and experience strengthened

Alderman for Economic Affairs Jan-Nico Appelman stressed the importance of the network during the opening:
"The walking network contributes to the priority themes of Accessibility and Experience, by better connecting recreational areas and enhancing active nature and landscape experiences for residents and visitors."

First network in Flevoland

Provincial Executive member Harold Hofstra expressed his pride at the realised cooperation:
"The province is proud that this first walking network has been rolled out in Lelystad. We hope that more municipalities will follow, creating a recognisable and coherent network throughout Flevoland."
