Why Flevokust Haven?

BESTSELLER had a desire to expand its logistics network. Soon BESTSELLER saw Lelystad as an ideal central location to serve the European market. At Flevokust Haven, BESTSELLER found a spacious 28-hectare plot and the transhipment quay was also a nice fit. The new DC will be certified at the very highest BREEAM level, which means that the building scores optimally in terms of sustainability. One example is that a large part of the building will be built with FSC-certified wood; this type of wood comes from a sustainably managed forest.

Future plans

BESTSELLER's ambition is to establish a high-tech and fully automated logistics centre at Flevokust Haven. Artificial intelligence (AI) is also high on their list of priorities: think about deploying some 1,400 robots! This promotes an efficient way of working and creates an optimal working environment for employees. The idea is that in the new distribution centre, robots and humans really work together.

"From the beginning, we have had good contact with Lelystad municipality and we also see potential in the local workforce," says Mr. K.
