The name "Long Jammer" harks back to Lelystad's early days. No street names existed on the former working island (now Lelystad harbour) in the 1950s: then they made up some names themselves and decided to hang them up as street names. They called the long thoroughfare De Lange Jammer. A name that still lives on in old Lelystad.
